Barnsley Night Challenge 2014

Two teams from Ardsley took part in the Barnsley Night Challenge in March 2014. Our Explorer team were overall winners, and our Scout team came 5th. The teams had to navigate their way around a 6 mile course, in the dark, completing tasks for points at checkpoints along the route.

The Barnsley Night Challenge is an annual event organised by the Silverwood Active Support Unit. This year 18 teams from Groups all over Barnsley took part.

Our Scout troop fielded an all-girl team, comprising Fran O, Daisy P, Chloe R and Madison T. They drew the 7pm departure slot and set off just as it turned dark. They completed the event at 1.30am, along the way collecting 297 points, which placed them 5th overall. This was a very creditable result for a team of relatively young Scouts, competing in this event for the first time.
