Each year, at the start of the summer holidays, we run a week-long camp. This year we enjoyed a glorious week at Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre in the New Forest.
Highlights of the week included Pony Trekking, Mountain Biking, Archery, Zip Wire, and days out at Beaulieu Motor Museum, the New Forest Show, and Boscombe beach in Bournemouth.
We set off for the New Forest at 10am, arriving at around 3pm. Most of the rest of the day was spent pitching our tents and exploring the camp site.
A busy second day began on the Archery range at Ferny Crofts.
In the afternoon we headed over to Burley Manor Riding Stables for Pony Trekking.
Off to Brockenhurst, where we hired some Mountain Bikes and enjoyed a day exploring the cycle trails around the New Forest
A lazy day on the beach at Boscombe near Bournemouth, where we enjoyed blazing sunshine and a cloudless sky.
In the evening we entered two teams in the volleyball tournament back on site.
Our visit coincided with the New Forest Show, a massive local agricultural event, so we spent a day exploring the stalls, exhibits and demonstrations.
Day six started on the Zip Wire at Ferny Crofts.
In the afternoon we headed over to The Quays leisure centre in Southampton for a swim (and a wash).
On our penultimate day a visit to the motor museum in Beaulieu, where exhibits include some of the automotive stars of recent Top Gear programmes, such as the 'home-made' stretched limos and hovervan, as well as genuinely historic vehicles.
Sadly our last day, and with rain approaching fast we packed up and headed for home.
