Beavers visit Pets At Home

Beavers held an exciting session away from the Scout Hut with their trip to Pets at Home.

Whilst there the Beavers leant all about various small pets and how to care for them.

They experienced “feeding time” and were able to hold some of the animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, bearded dragons and snakes!

Two of our Beavers showed great courage and overcame some of their fears about the smaller snakes. Both stroked the snake to get a feel for their texture and one even went on to hold one. The term “proud” does not even begin to cover how the Leaders felt.

Pets at Home support the Scout Association throughout the UK, encouraging pet care and responsible pet ownership through a programme of education and information like this trip out.

The trip was enjoyable and informative for both Beavers and Leaders alike and has put the Beavers in good stead to be working towards their Animal Friend Activity Badge.
